Candle Care

Caring for Your Candles

Candles add a warm and cozy ambiance to any space, but it's important to practice proper candle care to ensure safety and maximize their longevity. Here are some essential candle care tips, do's, and don'ts to keep in mind:

  1. Trim the Wick: Before lighting a candle, always trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. This helps prevent excessive flickering and ensures a cleaner, more even burn.
  2. Burn Safely: Place candles on a heat-resistant surface away from drafts, flammable materials, and out of reach of children and pets. Always use a candle holder designed for the specific candle size.
  3. Avoid Tunneling: To prevent tunneling (when the candle burns down the center, leaving wax along the edges), allow the candle to burn long enough for the wax to melt evenly across the top each time you light it.
  4. Extinguish Properly: Use a snuffer or gently blow out the candle to extinguish it. Avoid blowing too hard, as this can cause hot wax to splatter.
  5. Don't Burn Unattended: Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish candles before leaving a room or going to bed.
  6. Keep Away from Flammable Items: Avoid placing candles near curtains, bedding, books, or any other flammable items that could catch fire.
  7. Don't Burn for Too Long: Limit each burning session to no more than 4 hours to prevent overheating and ensure the candle lasts longer.
  8. Pro Tip: If your candle does tunnel, place on a candle warmer until it completely liquifies. Remove from warmer and allow to cool. Your candle will be good as new!

By following these candle care tips, you can enjoy a safe and delightful candle-lit experience in your home.
